Be Alone with Only Oneself and God

“One’s Christian character can be measured by many things. One of the least noted is one’s ability to be alone with only oneself and God.” – Carl Trueman

David Lloyd George (British Prime Minister) said that, when he was alone in a room, there was nobody there.

It is good to be alone, be alone, spend time alone with God and be disconnected to the distraction of the world, so that we might be an agent of transformation to the world not into the world, by the Grace of God.Yet all of us will one day die alone and after that have to give an account for ourselves, and for no-one else. Perhaps we might prepare ourselves a little for that here and now.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. – Colossians 3:2

  1. Paul Washer harps on this, especially for young men. I feel it is next to impossible to be alone with the Lord – I think my generation is impoverished by our choices for entertainment.
