God Is Not Slow… Really He’s Not

——-
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
– 2 Peter 3:9
——-

The reason why our Lord Jesus Christ is not coming back yet; not blessing us yet; is not because He is slow but rather He is patient toward us… He is so patient that He doesn’t want anyone should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

We can see absolute truths in this verse.

1. GOD IS FAITHFUL
God is faithful that what He promised He will do… in His timetable not ours.
Psalm 46:1

2. GOD IS NOT SLOW, BUT PATIENT
God is wishing all to be saved and not perish that is why He is being patient, being patient is part of God’s character. To prove that He is so patient, at the time of Noah, it took Noah 120 years to finish the ark, while preaching repentance to everyone… REALLY 120 years. This doesn’t give us license to abuse God’s patience, in-fact the very moment we hear the truth, we should promptly respond in humility.

3. GOD EXPECTS US TO REPENT NOW
Our Lord Jesus Chist is not slow and He is patient for the very reason that he is expecting us sinners to REPENT first before he’ll fulfill His promises and blessings… that means NOW, the very moment we hear and know and taste His goodness.

4. NO REPENTANCE NO SALVATION
Very clear in this verse that God is being patient on us to repent first in order for Him to fulfill His promises to us… therefore we are not in the position to negotiate and we are not in the position to put our confidence in the flesh and follow later.

5. TRUE REPENTANCE LEADS TO SALVATION (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Humility in Hebrew is “ana” – “to be bowed down, afflicted, or humbled”
It is impossible for us to repent without humility and without humiliating ourselves, admitting that we are wrong, sinners, wretched, prideful, rebels, lustful, envious, gluttons, sloths, greedy and evil doers.
When we admit these things and show humility that indeed we are sinful, then it will lead us to our salvation.

6. WORLDLY SORROW BRINGS DEATH
Worldly sorrow is not repentance and it is not true repentance at all. Do not put your confidence in flesh and emotion… sad experiences will never be a venue for repentance, if we are afflicted, sad, in sorrow, our comfort and confidence comes from faith and grace in Christ alone not by showing worldly sorrow that seeks sympathy, attention and or isolation.

7. BEING PATIENT DOES NOT MEAN GOD IS INCAPABLE OF BEING QUICK
God is not slow but patient, and it doe’s not mean that God is not faithful… He is prompt and really fast that He wanted to bless us right away because His intention is to prosper us. He wanted to be back soon to gather us to himself. In-fact when He comes back which is illustrated in the book of Revelation 19 and 1 Corinthians 15:52, He will be back in His full glory in a twinkling of an eye. That means approximately half the time when we blink our eyes, that fast.

——-

God’s timetable differs from ours. That is why we need to repent because we don’t know exactly when we’re going to depart this world.  When we depart this world (that can be any time, no one knows) then repentance is impossible.

Put your faith in Jesus Christ and serve Him only.

PEACE AND BLESSING!
