The Forgotten “Three-Letter Word”

By Ken Silva

1) Sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4)
What is the nature of sin?
1) It is a defiling thing
2) It grieves the Spirit of God
3) Sin is an act of rebellion against God
4) Sin is an act of falsehood and unkindness
5) Sin is a disease
6) Sin is an irrational thing
7) Sin is a painful thing
8 ) Sin is the only thing God has an antipathy (hatred) against

The Spirit of God is grieved over sin. How is it that confessors of Christianity can trivialize sin?
What are the effects of sin?
1) It degrades us of our honor
2) It disquiets the peace of the soul
3) It produces all temporal evil
4) If it is not repented of it will bring a final damnation
5) It destroys marriages
6) It destroys families
7) It destroys friends
8) It is the very thing that identifies people so closely to the devil

Most professing christians wanted to be identified themselves as friend of Christ but the truth is they defile themselves in sin.
It is irrational for one to call himself a Christian and yet do not uphold of that what Christ had spoken which is the truth, and how to conduct themselves as believers being identified with Christ (sounding like scribes, Pharisees and Saducees…).
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and THINGS like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
—Galatians 5:19-21

Knowing what is sin, and to avoid judgement because of sin (yes judgement will come), therefore repentance is necessary.
Repentance is not a one time event that after doing so, one can indulge in their flesh.
Repentance is 180 degrees turn-around and never to look back like LOT (Abraham’s cousin).

An interesting note on what is the common defense/excuse of a professing christians when being corrected or warned “do not judge me” they say … Right… God is the only Judge, rebukes and reproofs are “judging” to the ears of professing christians, not understanding that judging and reproofing are totally two different things. Judgement/judging is the final repercussion because of sin which will head to damnation, rebuke is a warning to avoid judgement by repenting thus saving one’s sol from eternal damnation.

Was Jesus polite in dealing with the fake believers like the Pharisees? The so-called “leaders” “believers” “light bearer” “priests” “levites” , He attacked the very corruption, wretchedness of the heart of these people. In Mathew 23, Jesus makes the word hypocrite a synonym for scribe and for Pharisee. He calls them sons of hell, blind guides, fools, robbers, self-indulgent, whitewashed tombs, full of hypocrisy and lawlessness, serpents, vipers, and persecutors and murderers of God’s people. He uttered every syllable with absolute self-control but with devastating intensity.

How can we be a light bearer/house of light/lighthouse if we ourselves are in darkness? Time is ticking… a decision has to be made, it is not to late, time will come when reproofs/corrections/rebukes will not reach our hearing anymore and that means judgement is approaching.
